Pamela Lee is the owner of the Sylvan center in Kahala and oversees the educational integrity of our programs, managing and training our team of tutors.  A former teacher and owner of an international pre-school, Pamela brings a wealth of knowledge to Sylvan of Kahala.  She holds a BA from Northridge University in Education and a MS from National University in Educational Administration.  Pamela’s passions are traveling, exercising, and spending time with family.

As President, Sam manages and operates the business at the Sylvan center in Kahala.  Besides Sylvan, Sam works for Houghton Street Partners, a private equity firm, where he is Head Partner in the Korea office.  Sam studied at Harvard Business School, MIT and at USC.  When Sam isn’t at Sylvan, you’ll find Sam traveling throughout Asia and on the golf courses around Hawaii.

Robo Teacher

“I enjoy teaching children about gears, pulleys and motors.  When they build the robots, they actively learn and become to understand more deeply how machines and robots operate.”

Josh is a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center in Kahala. He is a graduate of Iolani School and recently graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in History. In addition to history, Josh also has experience in the engineering field. While he has many tutoring talents, Josh finds the greatest joy in tutoring SAT prep, writing, reading, and robotics. When Josh isn’t tutoring at Sylvan, you can find him hiking and playing trading card games.

“Working with robotics is a great opportunity for students to develop their problem solving skills and to strengthen their creative decision making.”

Darin is a tutor at the Sylvan Learning Center in Kahala.  He graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology.  Darin enjoys teaching robotic education because it is a great way for students to learn core science concepts using a fun, interactive approach.  When he isn’t tutoring at Sylvan, you can find him playing tennis, golfing, or hiking around the island.
